Ever seen a church flyer that cussed?
This is a flyer from Revolution Church in NYC -http://www.revolutionnyc.com/. What is your feeling about a church using such a method to reach the unchurched or the X-churched? I understand the why they are doing it and I think its effective "marketing" for reaching their "niche". But the question to wrestle with, is it Biblical? And does it reflect Jesus well? I hope to receive many comments. Start wrestling ;-)
Script on the flyer says "As Christians, We're sorry for being self-righteous judgmental bastards. Revolution NYC A church for people who have given up on church. "

I'm pretty sure their approach the lost using earthly approach isn't prob the best way....But really only time will tell as fruit is made or not from it. John 15:19 came to mind "If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." I'm pretty sure Jesus would have approached it diff...and when I "market" I see no need to cuss. :o(
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback Jeri!
ReplyDeleteto each his/her own. Not the way I would do it but probably got a lot attention!
ReplyDeleteThe language used isn't the best introduction for the "un-churched". It may grab the attention of the "x-churched". But, we shouldn't reflect the world that we have been called from. Our focus should always be to reflect Christ. If we lift Him up, He will draw all unto Him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for feedback Amy and Diva!
ReplyDeleteWell, my momma always told me if you don't have nothing nice to say don't say nothing at all. So I will not say nothing.
ReplyDeletelol....good advice from momma Tonya....;-)
